MH Magazine Responsive WordPress Theme

Anyone who has put together a website knows that usually a great deal of time is spent choosing the right theme. A site’s theme is one of the most important decisions to make; most people in this world still judge a book by it’s cover after all. A site that looks great and functions well is what we’re all after – and excellent content, of course!

When I started looking around at WordPress themes for my blog, I started with the free ones. Finding nothing that really struck me, or ticked every box, I ventured into the premium realm and thank goodness I did, because I stumbled upon the MH Magazine Responsive WordPress Theme and fell in love with it instantly.

I’ve been using MH Magazine Responsive WordPress Theme for ten months now, and as a user I can say that I am constantly impressed with the developments to the theme’s capabilities and NEVER let down with service or functionality.

MH Themes is run by Michael Hebenstreit who is 100% committed to developing awesome products and to ensuring his customers are satisfied. Michael completely exceeded my expectations of customer service; his dedication is no doubt the reason MH Themes has become such a popular magazine-style WordPress theme option around the globe.

In my early days while I was setting up, I somehow managed make my entire header and footer disappear. I could not figure out what on earth I had done wrong, but Michael jumped on my site and in a matter of minutes he’d found that an incomplete ad code had caused the problem. He fixed it for me and had me back up and running in no time. Now THAT is service!

MH themes are based in Germany, and irrespective of time-zones, responses to support queries are always prompt. I’m in Australia (the other end of the clock!) and I’ve never had to wait more than 12 hours for a response. Usually, provided I know Germany is awake, I receive a reply within a few hours, which is what you want when you may have deadlines to meet and need a solution fast.

Michael was kind enough to answer a few questions about MH Themes:

1. How long have you been developing themes for?

I’ve been developing websites and WordPress themes for 4 years now. My label MH Themes, which offers high-quality Premium WordPress Themes for online magazines, news websites and professional blogs, launched about one and a half years ago. – Michael

2. What do you think are the most important technical elements of a great theme these days?

Well, I think it depends on the user and the project. For a simple blog there usually is no need for advanced features and options, but if you want to run a professional online magazine for example, you’ll need a WordPress theme which is easy to use and still offers the functionality to create amazing, flexible and dynamic websites. In the past many theme developers (including me) focused on adding as many features to their WordPress themes as possible. But it seems that this trend is changing and there is a demand for easy to use, not complex and simple themes which still can be used to build beautiful websites.

I think this is the future for WordPress themes, a clear focus on “simplicity“. But simplicity does not mean without options, it just means with wisely coded, well structured and more efficient options and using as much of the built-in WordPress functionality as possible. We will see more and more themes being released with a fantastic design but without bloated theme-options panels, 8 sliders, a ton of shortcodes, etc. Such bloated themes in the end cause more trouble than they are useful, especially when it comes to plugin compatibility, usability or client support. I’m very excited to see how this trend of more efficient themes will continue and I’ll do my best to contribute to it. – Michael

3. What is your top priority when it comes to theme development?

The priority has changed a bit. In the past it was building powerful themes with a ton of options and also adding every option a user asked for. But I realized that not every option makes sense and sometimes it is better to add less options and build a more efficient theme than just adding more and more stuff to the code base. So currently my top priority is focusing on well-designed, easy to use and still powerful WordPress themes without losing sense for simplicity. – Michael

4. Do you have plans to develop new themes to add to the MH range?

Yes, I’m currently working on new cool stuff and can’t wait to release it. But there is still some work to do, so stay tuned! :-) – Michael

What can I say? It’s a fantastic WordPress theme, and incredible value for money. I’m about to start working on a new layout to refresh my site, and I’m wrapped that I can do that with the same theme that I know and love.

The MH Themes suite is comprised of four WordPress themes.
